A Halloween Inspired Wedding in La Grange, GA
A Halloween Inspired Wedding
It’s so crazy to think that I participated in this amazing Halloween Inspired wedding a year ago and I never blogged about it. As a wedding and portrait photographer, it can be so much fun to get together with other fellow creatives and capture magic. This styled shoot was definitely filled with lots of fun and… magic!
The event was hosted at the Nutwood Plantation in La Grange, GA. The color scheme was a deep maroon, black, green. The dark and moody decor and florals set the perfect atmosphere for this stylized event. Although this shoot was styled, our models Steely and Paul felt right at home as we shot the day away!
In Steely's words, she describes how she and Paul met, fell in love, and had the engagement of a lifetime on stage in front of thousands!
"We first met at a mutual friends pool party in the summer of 2014. Steely was home from college working for the summer. The next few days after the party, we exchanged numbers and began talking. Since Paul is in the music industry and his mutual friend is too (the birthday boy who threw the pool party) we decided to ride up to TN together for his show to show our support. That trip to Tennessee is where we really connected and fell in love. We were able to hang out all weekend and really get to know one another. Once we realized how much we had in common, we began dating. Three years later and Shaky Beats Music Festival in Atlanta, GA, is when Paul popped the question. Paul was one of the artists playing the festival in his DJ duo called "Mantis". His set was on Sunday, May 7th in Centennial park. He told me to make sure I was up on stage during the end of his performance so that we could take a big group picture on stage. Our parents were there in the group photo with us. Just when I thought everything was finished, Paul gets back on the mic and tells the crowd that he had a question for me, he then pulled me up center stage and got down on one knee. The photos and videos from that day were one to remember! The crowd went crazy when I said yes, it was such a special moment, the adrenaline was real!
In Steely's words, here is the advice that she would like to give to future couples:
" As a wedding planner myself, I have noticed that many couples initially plan on making their special day true to their personalities. As planning goes on, I think a lot of that is lost because of course you want your guests to enjoy themselves, but many times couples worry that their guests wont enjoy it or it will be "too" different from your standard wedding. I have a saying to "always be unapologetically yourself, your vibe attracts your tribe" and family and friends will love and support the union of two souls no matter how different or out there it may be. I try to encourage non-traditional aspects and details to my clients who are open to it!"
